Vet: Nashua Animal Hosp |
I have to have my cattledog "re-spayed" as the original operation left ovarian tissue behind. Don't know the cost yet but all of these comments helped prepare me. Seems the northeast is quite a bit more expensive than other parts of the country. |

why is this so expensive??
I read all the posts regarding cost they really are varied depending upon location as well as other considerations. Oh well if I want my dog fixed I'll have to bite the bullet as they say. |

It was $425 to get the 2 female kittens spayed. They also had leukemia tests and their shots. They did not stay overnight, though the vet offers that for free. The clinic did a good job Overall, not a bad deal, I think. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it now. Seeing the other posts on here, it seems my cats' spay job was relatively inexpensive. The vet did a very good job. And I'm glad we got it done. |

Treatment: spay, microchip, 1 tooth extracted | Breed: dachshund |
Vet: Jackson Vet Clinic |
presurgical exam $29.00, preop injections $25.00, anesthesia induction $20.00, OVH 0-20lbs $140.00, Isoflurane $65.00, surgical pack fee $25.00, operating room fee $25.00, monitoring fee $30.00, medical waste $7.68, rimadyl injection $20.00, carprofen 75mg 3 caplets $5.70, microchip implantation $35.00, microchip activation $14.99, extraction-deciduous-simple 1 tooth $5.00. Very clean incision. Only 3 puppies spayed that day. I was told that microchip activation fee was $10.00 and didn't expect them to pull a tooth. Last Feb. 2009, another of my dachshunds was spayed here. Cost was $356.50, price breakdown was different...OVH was $75.00, isoflurane was $125.00, carprofen 75mg 2 tabs $6.00. Seems like there's no "set" price. Surgeries went well, puppies recovered very well, and incisions are barely noticable. |

I can beleive they charge $400 I figured it would be close to $200.
The $400.00 includes casteration, blood work anesthisia, e collor, 2 different kinds of medication. No wonder why so many people do not spay or neurter their animals. |

I did NOT get my English Bulldog, Tank neutered at my vet. What a ridiculous amount of money to charge, when if he was adopted, they would've charged $75 before adoption lol. CRAZY!!! |

Vet: ASPCA IN./Eagle Pass Tx |
I adopted a mixed breed at a shelter in Indiana and her adoption fee and getting spayed only cost me 76 total. My jack Russell had an accident and had to get neutered and his total was like 250 for meds since he had the accident. In all I guess it wasnt so bad. |

I called to have my 6 yr old choc lab spayed after moving to the miami area..I was quoted $450! I about fell over...I should have done it in Texas for $170 before I moved! Why is it so shocking that there is an overpopulation problem with costs this high? Outrageous. |

Treatment: Neuter | Breed: Sheltie |
Vet: Brown Animal Hospital |
Dr.Brown and all her staff are second to no-one. Murphy did great, they had him hooked up to a monitor the entire time and his aftercare was great. He stayed overnight for observation. They are the best and we just added a second dog to our household and he will be neutered there also.
Neuter: $141.00
Pre-Anesthetic Profile: $21.60 |

Paying all this money to get my dog spayed is one thing, but having to go back again because the doctor did not close her up enough, and I found her internal stuff coming out, is another. I mean, how much is too much? Why charge so much and still can have things go wrong? |

Treatment: Spay | Breed: King Shepherd |
Vet: Banfield |
Had wellness plans with other dogs, and had it included with the puppy program. Since she is older, there isn't a program available to include a spay. I would be nice to have it included because I did a rescue and did not find out she was pregnant until the day before I was suppose to pick her up. (Very pregnant), and she was not spayed previously because of her condition. I am now responsible for finding homes for the puppies and getting her spayed. I was hoping Banfield would support getting older dogs fixed with a discount program. :( |

Very nice staff, very caring, very nice clinic, clean, and well staffed. Prices have really gone up since my last spaying experience. You get pre-surgical evaluation, general anesthesia, sterile surgical instruments, Technician monitoring, IV fluids during surgery, hot water blanket during surgery, over night hospital stay, pain relief medications & Post-operative examinations for the money. Her weight is 33lbs at time of surgery. |

Treatment: Spay | Breed: 8.5 yr old beardie |
*The plus was $59.00 to keep her in the kennel (attached to the vet facility) for a couple of extra days since I did not want to bring her home too soon to an 18-month old, very active beardie. This was an elective increase decided by me and I think it was worth every penny. The "patient" did very well and came home in excellent condition. |

I was very pleased! My 60 lb. dog Dash, stayed for 24 hours & recieved excellent care. The cost included the procedure, the pain meds, head cone, heart worm treatment, Parvo, distemper and rabies shots. Also got 3 months worth of Frontline too!
Call around to local shelters to get information on any upcoming promotions. Even if it means waiting a few weeks. Or you can drop hundreds and hundreds on the same procedures with a Vet office. Your money, your choice. |

I dropped my little dude off in the morning and 5 hrs after surg. he was doing fine. I couldn't believe it. I did get the pain meds ( Rimadyl $14 )included in total spent, for the next day, but honestly, I really don't think he needed them. They always take wonderful care of my guy and would recommend them. |

Vet: Dr. Foster Lott, Minden Animal Clinic |
I took my dog in this morning to get spayed and the cost was $125.00 plus a kennel cough shot that is required, so a total of $137.00. Dr. Foster Lott is the best vet around and treats the animals like they are kids and they also call you to tell you how the surgery went and how your dog is doing!! Sure I could have got it cheaper somewhere else but I wouldn't take the chance with anyone else operating on my dog. She is doing great and is coming home in the morning |

Treatment: neuter quote | Breed: lab/terrier mix |
I'm going to keep calling around to see if this is the going rate in Mass but my vet quoted me $330 for my 23 lb lab/terrier mix. They said that this does NOT include the cost for a pre-op exam because he was seen there last week and therefore wouldn't have to have another exam done prior to neuter. |
